About
Ecology is
formed from the Greek words “oikos” and “logos”, and translates into:
“knowledge about the household”. In science this term is used to
describe
the relationship between organisms and their environment. When these
organisms
are humans, the relationship must be said to be in a rather bad state.
Knowledge
of our household seems more important than ever before. Luckily, this
is
recognized by more and more in the communities of science and finance,
as well
as in the NGOs and among the decision-makers in both private and public
sector.
Environmental
and ecological challenges and opportunities are met on many levels. Decisions
and strategies in these fields are best developed when fueled with accurate and
relevant information from several fields of society. All too often money and
resources are wasted on strategies and projects that fail due to lack of
communication, misinterpretation of data and outdated knowledge.
EcoInformation
was founded to work as a catalyst in the relationships between science, NGOs,
finance and decision-makers, with respect to the exchange of information
concerning ecological and environmental opportunities and challenges.

EcoInformation was founded by Joakim Hauge. Mr.
Hauge holds a cand. scient. -degree in ecology from Centre for Ecological and
Evolutionary Synthesis from the University of Oslo. His past positions have
involved analyses and presentation of information. Mr. Hauge has also served as
a member of the board in two Norwegian environmental organizations.
